Sport Tasman

Sports House is the home of Sport Tasman and an administration hub for the local sport and recreation community.

On the north side of Saxton Stadium at Saxton Field, Nelson, it hosts several sport, recreation, and community organisations, as well as Sport Tasman.

Sport Tasman is one of fourteen charitable regional sports trusts that support New Zealanders to be more active and healthier. Its purpose is to get more people, more active, more often. “If we are physically well and active, then as a community we will be more connected and vibrant,” says Sport Tasman CEO Nigel Muir.

Sport Tasman’s aim is to improve community wellbeing through sport, physical activity, active recreation and play opportunities. As a charity, Sport Tasman collaborates with communities in Kaikōura, Marlborough, Buller, Nelson, and Tasman districts to create thousands of physical activity opportunities across Te Tau Ihu, the top of the South Island.

“Sports and recreation enrich our lives in so many ways - physically, socially, emotionally, cognitively, and even spiritually. The sector also contributes significantly to New Zealand's economy.

Sport Tasman is enormously grateful to all its funders, partners and supporters that help make sport, recreation, physical activity and play available to so many individuals, families, and communities in our regions,” says Nigel.
